Dr M Venkataraman is an Assistant Professor, Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, University of Madras, Chennai. He specialises in Foreign Policy – focus on China, India and Southeast Asia, Regional Security Issues – South and Southeast Asia and Human Rights and Development.
Dr Venkataraman has been a Visiting Fellow, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, April – May 1995 in Singapore, and Visiting Fellow, Institute of Strategic and International Studies, May 1995 in Malaysia. He was also Visiting Professor, Department of International Relations and History, University De Las Americas, Puebla, Mexico, in June – July 2005. He has also formerly served as Assistant Professor at University of Asmara, Eritrea between 1999 and 2004 and Associate Professor at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia between 2004 and 2014.
