Christian Ploberger is an academic researcher and publisher. He held various academic positions in the past, with the most recent one as Lecturer at the Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok, Bangkok, Thailand. He has a strong academic and personal interest in East Asia, visiting the region as a researcher since the early 1990s. Using different modes of transport (bus, boat and bicycle) in exploring the region and its two sub-regions, Northeast and Southeast Asia, his travels have contributed to developing an interesting and valuable insight and view of the region. This also contributed to his academic work which focuses on East Asia in general. More specifically his subjects include international river basins, regional integration, climate change-related impacts and risks, security studies, East Asia’s International Relations and Chinese politics, including the BRI. He has published a number of articles and books related to his academic research.
