Dr Vijay Sakhuja is Co-founder and Trustee of The Peninsula Foundation, India and VisitingProfessor and Senior Fellow Gujarat National Law University, India. He is former Director, National Maritime Foundation, New Delhi and has been on the research faculty of a number of national and international think tanks: Visiting Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), Singapore; Director (Research), Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA); Senior Fellow, Centre for Airpower Studies (CAPS) and Observer Research Foundation (ORF); Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), and United Service Institution of India (USI).

A former navy officer, Sakhuja received his MPhil and PhD degrees from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Dr Sakhuja has published nearly 40 books, edited volumes and monographon international relations, geopolitics, maritime security, maritime history and the Arctic. He is author of ‘Asian Maritime Power in the 21stCentury: Strategic Transactions – China, India, Southeast Asia’;co-author of ‘Climate Change and the Bay of Bengal: Evolving Geographies of Fear and Hope’; Asia and the Arctic: Narratives, Perspectives and Policies, Perspectiveson Blue Economy;The Blue Economy: Concept, Constituents and Development.
